Background

Jon Martin Larsen is a doctoral candidate in communication and leadership, and is now researching how municipalities can use rhetoric to create dialogue and trust with their minorities.

Larsen's research is largely about rhetoric, crisis and risk communication, strategic communication, quality of life, citizenship, participation, community and social inclusion, with an emphasis on contributing to organizational development, innovation and management. He uses mixed research methods such as qualitative, quantitative, observation, participatory research, action research and intervention research as methods.

He is also an assistant professor and gives lectures in journalism, communication and social studies, and he is a course coordinator for political journalism and commentary. Larsen has been associated with Kristiania and its predecessors for over twenty-five years and has taught at schools in Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim alongside other full-time work in a number of Norwegian newsrooms and international humanitarian organizations. He has a master's degree in international journalism from Cardiff University from 2007 and wrote a master's thesis on how terror, migration and minorities affect the Turkish identity and the Turkish state.
