Background

Kari Spjeldnæs is an Associate Professor and Head of department at Kristiania University College. She first joined Kristiania in the fall of 2020 for her work on a PhD on reading and digitization. In November 2022, she assumed the Head of Department of Leadership and Organization position. November 2023, she defended her thesis at the University of Bergen, Department of Media Science.

Spjeldnæs has participated in the research project "Invading Media, Ambivalent Users, and Digital Detox" (Digital Disconnection). The project explores media and media users, with a particular focus on strategies for withdrawal and disconnection. Spjeldnæs is a literary scholar with thirty years of experience in the Norwegian book industry as an editor and director, as well as in commercial operations, leadership, and board work.
