Do you require adaptations for everyday student life?

Being able to access your curriculum as an audiobook can be of great help to those who experience difficulties with reading and writing, visual impairment and difficulty concentrating. The service is free of charge. You need to submit an application to get access to the audio curriculum.

Lingdys has been developed for people with dyslexia or other reading and writing difficulties. The tool is available in both Norwegian and English. The products can help you with, among other things, spelling, choosing the correct word and having text read out. If you have documented reading and writing difficulties, you can apply to NAV to access the software for free.

You can apply for adaptations to examinations if your health or personal situation cause disadvantages in an examination situation.  You may, for example, apply:

• for additional time to complete the examination
• for the use of a PC
• for the option to sit your examination in a smaller room

There are also separate rules and deadlines applicable to online students. If you experience a sudden need for adaptations after the application deadline has passed, please contact your Student Advisor, who can provide further assistance.

Mentoring is generally a service available to students who receive student support via NAV. Having a mentor means that you will receive follow-up from a fellow student. The mentor can be someone you can discuss issues with, but also a source of support, who can help ensure planning and structure in everyday student life. The mentor can also help you take notes from lectures. Please contact your NAV advisor to learn more about this service. You can read more about the mentoring scheme on the NAV website.

Kristiania University College also has a separate mentoring scheme available to students who require individual support. Please contact your Student Advisor to see whether the mentoring scheme would be a good fit for you.

Leave of absence means that you will be absent from the programme of study for a limited period of time. Leave of absence may be granted due to:

• pregnancy or caring for children
• national service
• long-term illness
• other compelling reasons

 

It is possible to be granted leave of absence for up to two semesters. If you are planning leave in connection with pregnancy or caring for children, it may be a good idea to read up on the Lånekassen guidelines for parental grants and leave here.

All students at the Professional College and at Kristiania University College have the option to meet with the social worker. You can talk to the social worker about anything that affects your everyday student life. The meeting can take place by phone, Zoom (video meeting) or in person. The social worker is based at Prinsens gate 7-9 in Oslo.

If you have a disability that prevents you from working alongside your studies, you can apply for an additional grant from Lånekassen.

If you become ill and are unable to attend classes for an extended period of time, you may be entitled to an illness grant from Lånekassen. An illness grant means that your loan will be converted to a grant for the period in which you are ill. You can receive an illness grant for up to 4 months and 15 days during a study year. You will not be considered to be “delayed” in your study programme during this period.

This room can be used when you need time to yourself. Here you can rest, think, breastfeed, pray or meditate. The room is available to all students at Kristiania University College and Kristiania Professional College. Please enquire with campus reception to request access. The “Room for faith and reflection” can be booked for one hour at a time.

We would like to hear from you if you believe you would need help to evacuate in the event of an emergency. Together with you, we will create an evacuation plan tailored to your needs. We will go through our procedures with you, for example in the event of fire.

In Oslo, two evacuation chairs are located at A-6 and A-4 in Kirkegata 24-26. Fire blankets can be found on the evacuation chairs. Fire blankets can also be found in the canteen kitchen.

In Bergen, two evacuation chairs can be found at Kalfarveien 78 C on the second and third floors. Fire blankets can be found on the evacuation chairs.

In Oslo:

• Kirkegata 24-26: A-6, C-1, C-3, C-4, B-3, B-U.
• Prinsens gate 7-9: P-1, P-3
• Rosenkrantz gate 16: first, second, third, fourth and lower ground floors.

We are unfortunately not able to offer parking to students in Oslo. Public disabled parking spaces can be found near the University College.

In Bergen, paid parking is available at Kalfarveien 78 C in the mountain hall. It is situated 100 metres from campus. Disabled parking spaces can also be found here.

You can apply for leave using our digital application form. In order to document your application, you will need to upload documents via “My Kristiania”.

Use this form if you are studying at Kristiania University College.

Use this form if you are studying at Kristiania Professional College.

Please contact your Student Advisor at the Department for Student Welfare if you need any help applying for leave.

You can lodge an appeal if your application is refused. We will then reconsider your application. If you have new information, you can upload the information via “My Kristiania” as additional information. If your application is refused again, it will be sent to the Appeals Board at Kristiania University College or Kristiania Professional College. The Appeals Board will reconsider the application. The decision from the Appeals Board is final. This means that you cannot lodge another appeal.

• Changes to the programme and course plan may be implemented while you are on leave. This means that the curriculum, study requirements and examination format may change.
• You will be responsible for staying up-to-date with any changes and deadlines applicable to your programme of study while you are on leave.
• If you want to discontinue your studies after completing your leave of absence, you need to cancel your place. You can do this by submitting a termination via Studentservice (log in with feide). You need to terminate your study place before 15 January (for the spring semester) or 1 September (for the autumn semester). If you submit your termination after the deadline, you will need to pay the full semester fee.

As a professional college student, your rights are set out in Section 1-6 of the regulations on admissions, programmes of study and examinations and Section 28 of the Norwegian Tertiary Vocational Education Act.

Online students are able to access their courses for 18 months. It is not possible to apply for leave during this period. If you need more time to complete your courses, you can apply for an extension to your right to study. You will need a justifiable reason and it must be academically appropriate for you to complete the programme of study over a longer period of time. The right to study may be extended by up to a maximum of 12 months.
