The Vocational School has its guidelines. Please contact Axel Eikner.

The funds are intended to enhance the academic quality and opportunities for internationalisation in the education provided to students at Kristiania. They are also aimed at increasing international student mobility for as many students as possible, in addition to the opportunities for semester-long mobility.

What the Funds Can Be Used For

Kristiania receives Erasmus+ funding, which can be used, among other things, for international short-term student mobility. The purpose must be teaching or practical training/internship. The requirements for grant allocation from Erasmus+ must be met according to the current Erasmus+ handbook.

Erasmus+ grants for short-term mobility can be awarded to students either as groups or individually. The allocation requires that the student(s) undertake a teaching placement of 5-30 days at an Erasmus+ (or possibly another bilateral) partner institution or a similar international internship (typically in the EU). If the duration of the stay exceeds this period, the student will only receive support for the first 30 days.

For teaching placements, the cooperation agreement with the partner institution(s) must be signed before the application deadline. At least two partner institutions must participate, and the scope of the teaching must correspond to at least 3 ECTS credits. The program must include at least one virtual component.

The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) is a special type of Erasmus+ short-term mobility that involves 3 partner institutions in different countries, including both physical mobility and a virtual component.

To calculate the grant, Erasmus+ has defined fixed rates per day (p.68) (EUR). (Separate rates and exchange rates apply for vocational education mobility)

The disbursement of the entire grant is subject to specific agreements (Learning Agreement and Grant Agreement) being concluded in advance, and the submission of a Confirmation of Stay and a final evaluation after the stay.

Kristiania announces Erasmus+ funding for short-term mobility on its website, with application deadlines four times a year (01.02, 15.05, 15.09, and 01.11).

How to Apply for Funding

A course coordinator (with a Study Program Coordinator) who wishes students to undertake short-term mobility must plan a program together with a partner institution (for studies) or an employer (for internships). The plan for short-term mobility (including program details) must be approved by the Study Program Coordinator and Head of Department/Vice Dean from the outset. The planning and implementation of short-term mobility must be overseen by the School.

The Department for Research Administration and Internationalisation provides information about Erasmus+ mobility, guidance on the application process, an overview of cooperation agreements, completion, and distribution of Erasmus+ documents, disbursement, and reporting of grants.

The course coordinator or Study Program Coordinator completes the application for short-term mobility for student groups or individual students. There must be at least 6 weeks between the application deadline and the start of the mobility.

To be considered, the complete application must be submitted via Nettskjema by the given deadline. All sections must be completed. Application deadlines are announced on the website.

In principle, a course coordinator can be allocated a grant for a maximum of one short-term mobility for one student/group (maximum 30 participants) per study program per cohort. If funds remain unused, they may be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis within the specified deadlines.

The mobility must meet the requirements, and the application must include:

  • Confirmed dates for physical mobility and virtual component.
  • Contact information for the partner institution (international office and academic coordinator)
  • A complete list of all participating students
  • A documented plan for the stay, including teaching at the partner institution and a daily program for students at all participating institutions. (This applies only to teaching mobility and not to internships)
  • A description of the learning outcomes according to the course description
  • The Study Program Coordinator’s assessment of the application, confirmed by the Head of Department (an email can be uploaded as an attachment in Nettskjema)

Processing of Applications

The Department of Research Administration and Internationalisation receives the applications and assess whether they meet the Erasmus+ requirements for short-term mobility and the requirements for application content (see above).

When there are more qualified applications than available funds, priority is given to applications that meet most of the following criteria:

  • Relevance of short-term mobility to the course's learning outcomes (as per the stay plan)
  • Stays at Erasmus+ partner institutions in Europe are prioritized over those outside Europe (similarly to the allocation of other Erasmus+ grants)
  • Short-term mobility is a regular part of the curriculum repeated annually.
  • BIP is prioritized over regular short-term mobility.

Grant Allocation

The Department of Research Administration and Internationalisation sends response letters to all applicants. The course coordinators who have been granted short-term mobility must inform the students and prepare for the trip. The Department of Research Administration and Internationalisation provides various pre-filled Erasmus+ documents to students for detailed information and signature. Once the signed Learning Agreement and Grant Agreement are returned, the grant is disbursed to the students in advance. The students must arrange and pay for their travel themselves.
