Departement of Health and Exercise

The section consists of disciplines that revolve around the functioning of the human body. Exercise and nutrition focus on how physical activity and nutrient intake affect our body both in terms of health and from a performance perspective. Life sciences deals with the molecular and physiological processes of the human body in a medical perspective.

The research group Health Sciences (HelsVit) works with mapping and promoting the state of health of the individual and to groups of the population with both preventive and treatment considerations. The group is led by Professor Per Morten Fredriksen.

The research group Training Science (TreVit) is linked to health and performance development.  The research is centred around three main areas: Endurance, strength/speed and mobility. Preliminary joint projects in these main areas are health mapping, testing and training methodology. The group is led by Professor Espen Tønnessen.
