Important information:
If you are a Norwegian citizen but you studied abroad, you need to use the regular application form.

- If you do not have a Norwegian social security number (or D-number) you need to apply as an international applicant. You must then apply
within the application deadline March 15th.The deadline for submitting an application for international applicants that do not require s student residence permit is April 15th.

- Read the academic requirements carefully for each programme you are applying to. The academic requirements are as specified under the admission requirements section of https://www.kristiania.no/en/studies/. If you think you are eligible, you have to apply within the deadline.
- Admission to master's programmes at Kristiania University College requires a minimum grade average comparable to a Norwegian C (GPA 2,7) in your bachelor's degree. The Norwegian C is generally comparable to an American B minus. All international applicants with foreign education will be individually evaluated during the admission process.
- As a general requirement for admission to master’s programmes in English, all applicants must document proficiency in English on advanced level through an international test, recognized by Kristiania University College. Kristiania University College does not offer any preparatory courses in English.
- Exemptions from the English language requirement are limited. For more information please contact admission@kristiania.no
- Applicants that are required to apply for a student residence permit must submit all required documents before the deadline April 15th. The deadline for uploading documentation for international applicants that do not require a student residence permit is July 1st (bachelor) and July 15th (master).
- Incomplete applications will be refused regardless of academic qualifications. It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit a complete application within the deadline.
- Once you qualify for admission you will need to accept or decline the offer of admission through the application portal "Mitt Kristiania" within the given deadline.

- General University and College Admissions Certification
- General University and College Admissions Certification following subject training with a craft certificate or vocational experience and education according to the 23/5 regulation
- Prior learning and work experience
- Additional requirement: Passing grade in mathematics R1 or S1+S2 (scientific Mathematics from Upper secondary school).
- Proficiency in English must be documented with a valid test, listed under “English Language Requirements for International Applicants”
- Copy of passport/ Norwegian residency permit.
- For non EU/EEA/Swiss applicants who are rediding outside Norway: Documentation of sufficient funds to cover living expenses and tuition fees. This can be documented with one of the following:
- a recent official bank statement in your own name
- a letter confirming that you are eligible for a scholarship/student loan from your home country
- a sponsor’s guarantee letter and sponsor's recent official bank statement
The amount required for one academic year is tuition (see the tuition fee for the programme you are applying for on our web pages) and sufficient funds to cover living expenses in Norway for one academic year (NOK 151 690). The amount may be documented in any currency.
Note that this will later be an essential part of the student residence permit application. Immediately after receiving an offer of admission, international students are requested to transfer this amount to a student deposit account held by Kristiania University College.

Master's programmes
- Complete bachelor diploma and transcript confirming that you have achieved equivalent to 180ECTS. Grade Point Average (GPA) from your bachelor’s degree must be minimum C.
- Secondary school certificate/High School diploma
- Letter of motivation, approximately 500 words.
- IELTS test (total score 6.5) or TOEFL test (total score 98). Exemptions from the English language requirement are limited. For more information please contact admission@kristiania.no
- Copy of passport/ Norwegian residency permit.
- For non EU/EEA/Swiss applicants who are residing outside Norway: Documentation of sufficient funds to cover living expenses in Norway. This can be documented with one of the following:
- a recent official bank statement in your own name
- a letter confirming that you are eligible for a scholarship/student loan from your home country
- a sponsor’s guarantee letter and sponsor's recent official bank statement

English language tests should not be older than two years at time of the application deadline.
Exemptions from the test
- Applicants who have completed at least one-year studies at high school or university in Australia, Canada, Ireland, UK, USA or New Zealand. The place of instruction must have been in one of these countries and the language of instruction must have been English.
- Applicants who have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree with English as the language of instruction in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, or Sweden.
- Applicants who have completed and passed English course (140 hours per year / 5 hours per week) at the Norwegian upper secondary school, with a minimum grade of 4.
- Applicants who have English as "language 1" or "language 2" on European Baccalaureate Diploma (EB).
- Applicants who have completed International Baccalaureate Diploma/Certificate (IB)
- Your citizenship determines if you need to apply for a student residence permit in order to study in Norway. If you are in doubt regarding the application for a student residence permit, contact the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI).
- Citizens from Nordic countries
Citizens from Nordic countries (Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland) who plan to live in Norway for more than six months, must go to Tax Office (Skatteetaten) for an ID check and to submit a notification of change of address no later than 8 days after your arrival in Norway. You have to book an appointment on their website on beforehand.
- Citizens from EU/EEA countries
Citizens from EU/EEA countries do not need a visa to enter Norway, but they are required to register their stay at Service Centre for Foreign Workers (SUA), within 3 months after their arrival in Norway. You need to book an appointment beforehand in the UDI Application Portal.
Citizens from EU/EEA countries who plan to stay in Norway for a period shorter than 90 days do not need to register their stay.
- Citizens from Non-EU/EEA countries
Citizens from non-EU/EEA countries need to apply for a student residence permit in order to study in Norway.
When applying to a Master's programme at Kristiania University College, non-EU/EEA citizens who are residing outside Norway, must document that they have sufficient funds to cover living expenses and tuition fees. This can be documented with one of the following:- a recent official bank statement in your own name
- a letter confirming that you are eligible for a scholarship/student loan from your home country
- a sponsor guarantee letter and sponsor's recent official bank statement
The amount required for one academic year is tuition and living expenses for one academic year (NOK 151 690). The amount may be documented in any currency.This will later be an essential part of the student residence permit application. Immediately after receiving admission, international applicants are requested to transfer this amount to a student deposit account held by Kristiania University College.
Immediately after receiving admission, non-EU/EEA citizens need to apply for a student residence permit. More information about the student residence permit is available at the UDI's website. Please be aware that the residence permit application process may take 7-8 weeks.
As a part of the student residence permit application, this amount must be deposited in a Norwegian bank account as UDI requires financial guarantee for studies in Norway. It is not possible to open a bank account in Norway prior to arrival. Therefore, Kristiania University College has an account where the required amount can be deposited. Details about how to transfer the deposit will be available after receiving admission.
Normally you are required to register in person at the local immigration office within 7 days after your arrival in Norway. You need to make an appointment beforehand through the UDI Application Portal. Be aware that you are not allowed to enter the Police Station before you have finished required quarantine time.
After the police registration, you will receive a residence card and Norwegian ID number by mail. The residence permit is usually valid for one year and must be renewed for the second year of studies. When you are granted a student residence permit in Norway, you are automatically also granted permission to work up to 20 hours per week and full-time during ordinary holidays.Once you have received your Norwegian ID number you can open your bank account in Norway and Kristiania University College will transfer your deposit money to your account. The money will be transferred back to you once you open a Norwegian bank account. In order for us to be able to refund your deposit you need to personally visit our financial department with a signed letter with your bank account information. The letter must contain your student id-number, full name, address and account number. If your student residence permit is not granted or if you withdraw before the deadline specified in your student contract, the funds you deposited will be refunded to you.
- Citizens from Nordic countries
- Only upload what is required. Unrequested documents will not be taken into consideration and only delays the evaluation of your application.
- Only upload official documents. Student copy/unofficial transcripts are not considered official.
- All documentation must be uploaded as PDF-files or JPG. We do not accept documents via e-mail unless explicitly requested by us. It is preferred that documents consisting of several pages are scanned together into one PDF-file.
- Documents must be clear, legible and appear 'right-side up'. Applications containing bad quality copies and unreadable documents will be rejected.
- It is the applicant's responsibility to upload all required documents within the deadline. Incomplete applications will be rejected regardless of academic qualifications. Your application will be automatically rejected if you have not uploaded all required documents within the deadline. Do not upload additional documents that are not listed below. Unnamed documents or excessive amounts of documents may delay or invalidate your application.
- Submission of fraudulent documents is illegal and will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
- You may be asked to submit your original documents at the start of your first semester at Kristiania University College, for a routine inspection. It is therefore expected that you bring your original documentation to Norway. Students that can't present approved documentation may lose their right to study at Kristiania University College.
