Songwriting and Music Production
BA Songwriting and Music Production attracts artists, session producers, music producers, topliners, lyricists, and songwriters to be. The program is suitable for exchange students with similar ambitions, interests, and resources. The first two years of our program are preparing our students to express themselves musically and artistically within the complex and broad landscape of contemporary popular music. Applicants for our exchange student program should be above the beginners’ stage at one or more daws, have basic insight into the craft of writing pop music, master one or more instruments sufficiently, know pop music history, and be comfortable co-writing with other skilled students

Popular Music Performance
- MUT300 | Principal Instrument 3 [15 ECTS]
- The course is conducted with students from the Popular Music program from the third year and is considered a core subject for performing arts education. The course includes one-on-one instruction and group classes, with professional performers and educators. The final exam is a concert with an accompanying written work, at an external concert venue in Oslo. A lot of self-practice and good skills in one's principal instrument are expected in this course
- LKO200 | Live Communication [7.5 ECTS]
- The course is conducted together with students from the Popular Music program from the second year. It provides training and specialization in stage performance for artists and performing musicians on stage. It also includes practice in performance preparation, technical preparation, and communication within the band, with the audience, and with associated professionals, such as sound technicians and lighting technicians. Prior knowledge of the main instrument and stage performance is recommended.
- MUT260 | Songwriting [7.5 ECTS]
- The course is conducted with students from Popular Music and Sound Engineering, and Music Production from the third year of study. The subject is an elective for Norwegian students, so the number of students in the class may vary. The course provides varied teaching within various relevant songwriting techniques (lyrics, topline, etc.), based on the students' material. The subject includes some joint teaching and some guidance. Prior knowledge of songwriting is not a requirement, but it is an advantage to master one or more instruments, as well as to know melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic structures and relationships
Musical Theatre

Bachelor in Exhibition- and Retail Design
The following courses are suitable for international exchange students who have already completed two years of undergraduate study of interior-, retail-, exhibition-, or spatial design. Students taking the courses will be challenged to apply their existing skills in independent and group projects. The courses includes one-on-one instruction and group classes, with professional designers and educators. Students are expected to have basic skills to advanced skills in CAD programs (SketchUp or similar programs) and basic skills in Adobe (visual communication.)
- BRA3100 | BRA3100 Brandcape [15 ECTS]
- The course will equip students with in-depth knowledge of essential tools and methodologies for creating and analyzing Brandscapes. The students will delve deep into the relationship between interior architecture, design, and the articulation of retail brand identity and broaden this understanding to encapsulate brand communication in public domains. In BRA3100, there will also be a study trip to Germany as part of the course (week 46), where the students will work with German and Italian students for one week.
- SGD3200 | SGD3200 Self-initiated design project [15 ECTS]
- Students taking the course will be encouraged to develop a sense of authorship as designers. They must develop and design individual,self-initiated projects themselves. The course includes a lot of one-on-one instruction with professionals. In addition to having basic skills, students are expected to be creative, highly motivated, independent, and maintain a high degree of intellectual curiosity.
Service Design
The following courses are suitable for international exchange students who have already completed two years of undergraduate study of service design or in a related area such as UX design, interaction design, product design, design research, or design thinking. Students taking the courses will be challenged to apply their existing skills in independent and group projects addressing complex societal problems. Students are expected to be aware of designers’ social responsibility, have advanced skills in user research and presentation, and have basic skills in visual communication.

Interior Architecture
This course is suitable for exchange students who have already completed two years of undergraduate study in interior architecture. The course provides an in-depth understanding of sustainable design principles and how they can be applied in practice. The Norwegian students work with digital tools (ArchiCAD), but alternative drawing programs can also be used in the course to develop technical drawings and 3D illustrations. We're looking for students that are motivated and engaged with a high level of curiosity. The students have the opportunity to participate in site visits and study trips around Oslo, to enhance their understanding of Norwegian vernacular architecture and sustainable solutions in practice.
Graphic Design
The following courses are suitable for international exchange students who have already completed two years of undergraduate study in graphic design or in a related area of visual communication, like art direction, interaction design, illustration, motion graphics or typography. Students taking the courses offered in sequence will first be encouraged to develop a sense of authorship as graphic designers. They will then go on to plan and execute their own self-initiated projects before learning about how to promote their practice and navigate the marketplace. In addition to possessing basic skills, students are expected to be highly motivated, independent, and to maintain a high degree of intellectual curiosity.
