The course will strengthen the student as a professional make-up and hair designer. Students will develop an understanding of what the other subject functions do, and learn how to communicate and convey their design and ideas.

In this subject, the student works as key make-up and hair designers. They utilize their technical and theoretical skills in practical projects, using their professional tools, techniques and forms of expression. The student uses scripts as a work tool in his own work, as well as rooms, location and other working conditions. The student collaborates with creative leaders and actors on artistic and visual concepts, and acquires an overview of forms of expression within different genres and media. The students have a great responsibility for the projects. They must comply with deadlines, financial frameworks and human challenges.

The projects should be as realistic as possible. The practical work may include, among other things, concerts, movies, theater and photo shoot . All the projects are under the auspices of the school and with clear learning outcomes.

The teaching alternates between project work, supervision and own work. Mainly in the projects, the students are primarily responsible for mask and hair designs. Through this interdisciplinary work, the students gain knowledge about lighting for film and stage, film photography, dramaturgy and interpretation. The work includes the use of varied sources, such as film, TV, theater performances, magazines, literature and visual art.

Through studies of grades in selected media, as well as artistic development work in the field, the student learns to make use of others' experiences. Depending on the nature of the project, the teaching is structured so that the student gradually learns to take responsibility for his/her own work according to a holistic visual expression. The students meet key players who tell about work processes, planning, interpretations and artistic choices and about the collaboration with other professional groups in a production.
