In the subject Actor’s Performance Practice I, the student will receive basic training for actors. The student is introduced to Stanislavski’s system and learns to use their own creativity and imagination to build scenic events alone and in collaboration with others.

Through tasks, improvisations, and guidance, the student works on exploring a role’s psychophysical life and movements on stage. Work is done with scenic space, body, voice, and interpretation. The student will gain experience with nonverbal listening, partner contact, strategies for changing behavior, creating action sequences, emotional settings, and transformation in a scenic context.

In the second half of the year, the student will work on a basic introduction to text work for the stage. The semester builds on the understanding and skills developed in the first semester. In this semester, the student will be introduced to the use of text in the work with scenic creation and scenic life. Word action is an essential concept, and throughout the semester, the student will work on approaches and in-depth variations of text creation in scenic life.

The student works progressively, from smaller to larger scenic units. In the work, the student will learn to formulate goals and circumstances, find strategies to relate to these, seek out scenic expressions, and explore situations. Action, dialogue, tempo rhythm, and listening are essential elements.

The student will also work on a small artistic development project without a budget in this subject.

The subject communicates closely with Acting Techniques I.

Throughout the year, the student should acquire a work ethic based on understanding the high work demands for actors, as well as the ability to collaborate, share knowledge, and respect others’ contributions.
