A main goal of health and performance-enhancing strategies is to learn about why and how organizations should develop a healthy performance culture or a health culture through strategic health management related to sustainability.

The number of employed people in Norway (around 2.7 million) makes up a large part of the population. Because employers are uniquely positioned to influence their employees and improve their mental and physical health through sustainable measures in the workplace, a joint initiative can contribute to strengthening Norwegian public health. With sickness absence of around 6.5%, which costs companies and the state tens of billions annually, FHI suggests, with the support of the "Public Health Act" and the national strategy "HelseOmsorg21", that preventive measures should be developed against the negative lifestyle factors. It has been documented that a healthy and safe workforce can provide a competitive advantage in that productivity, results, sustainability measures and reputation among various interest groups are positively affected.

Therefore, students will learn about how organizations work on the inside from a health perspective. Individual drivers such as mental and physical health, fun at work, motivation and job satisfaction are undoubtedly among the main engines of any successful business. In addition, there are connections between concrete individual drivers and organizational culture that say something about shared mindsets and behaviour. Well-being in the workplace seems to be at the top of the priority list for many employers, but well-being is linked to well-being and good health in the workplace. Therefore, the students will learn about health-promoting measures that can strengthen employee relations, which prove to be beneficial for effective teamwork, and the employees' mental and physical health. The subject rests on literature from the health sciences, organizational theory, management theory, marketing and brand building.

In this subject, students will learn about:

• Basic health science, situation and development

• How organizations can contribute to promoting and influencing the most important life-prolonging factors such as socialisation, physical activity, healthy diet and fresh air.

• Health management, health culture and healthy performance culture

• How the management and the HR department can implement health-promoting measures for the organization (such as internal health-promoting events, implementation of healthy self-management in the organization, internal activation of sports sponsorships to promote physical health and internal activation of cultural sponsorships to promote mental health)

• Physical and digital facilitation for joint or individual activities
