The master's thesis is written in pairs (two students), but it is possible to apply to write individually according to the school's usual routines.

The group submits a project outline in the third semester, (a specific date will be assigned). In this project outline, the groups indicate the preferred topic and supervisor for the assignment. The groups are then assigned a supervisor.

Exact dates for submitting a master's thesis will be announced in the examination plan.

Advising

Each thesis pair is offered 10 tutorial hours of 45 minutes. The appointed supervisor announces possible times for supervision, and the supervision must be agreed well in advance. It is the students' responsibility to contact the supervisor to arrange the first supervision meeting.

Group advising session can be set up to replace individual supervision times. These will focus on general challenges the task groups face and discuss these in such a way that all task groups are active and benefit from the meeting.

Thesis pairs that do not show up at the agreed time, without having notified the advisor 48 hours before, will lose this advising hour.

In order to make the actual supervision time as effective as possible, the supervisor must have material submitted from the thesis pair no later than 48 hours in advance.

No guidance is given in the last two weeks before the submission deadline.

Submission

The title of the master's thesis must give an indication of the thesis' topic and content, and is made on the basis of the research problem (does not have to be the same as the research problem). The title must be translated into English for use on the diploma. Titles in both Norwegian and English must now be registered in StudentWeb and entered on the self-declaration.

When submitting the master's thesis, all group members who submit the answer must electronically sign a declaration that includes the following conditions:

that the work is the thesis group's own

that the work has not been delivered in any other context before

that all sources are accounted for

that the master's thesis is the result of equal effort from the group members (unless it is written individually)

that it is the thesis group is responsible for the content

Violation of the provisions included here is to be considered cheating.

If the master's thesis is to be treated confidentially, the candidates must indicate this on delivery and mark as confidential when submitting. Normally, one year of confidentiality is granted (ie the thesis is blocked for access for one year). Exceptionally, two years are given for the master's thesis (in the event of an extended confidentiality period, confirmation from the client must be included).
