Bakgrunn
Jo C. Bruusgaard er prodekan forskning og professor ved Høyskolen Kristiania. Han underviser i fysiologi, cellebiologi og vitenskapelig metode på Institutt for helse og trening. Bruusgaard forsker på cellebiologien som ligger til grunn for muskelplastisitet – musklenes evne til å forandre egenskaper ved endringer i miljøet rundt. Han har publisert sine arbeider i internasjonalt ledende tidsskrifter, som PNAS, Journal of Clinical investigations og Journal of Physiology.
Bruusgaard jobber nå med musklenes evne til å detektere mekanisk påvirkning og muskelcellenes organellearkitektur.
Bruusgaard har vært leder for Norsk fysiologisk forening i flere år. Han har vært opponent og ledet bedømmelseskomité ved Universitetet i Uppsala.
